Welcome to the Kingaroy & District Vintage Machinery Club Inc home page. The Kingaroy & District Vintage Machinery Club is a laid back country machinery club based in Kingaroy, Queensland, Australia.
A fair dinkum relaxed club where you leave your worldly troubles at the door, where blokes (Aussie slang for man) can be blokes and sheilas (Aussie slang for lady), well, they can be can be that too. You see, we are real down to earth people not hung up on political correctness and when you join our club, you make genuine mates for life.
For those of the alternative politically correct, tree hugging, latte sipping, lycra clad, bike riding, vegan eating, man made global warming persuasion, we do love you .... no, we really do, the world needs balance. We welcome you but we have to give you the drum, maybe this is not your cup of tea.
You see, we love and preserve any old vintage or antique machine, especially the ones that blow lots of black smoke, make the ground vibrate a little, sound really awesome and make old blokes tear up with memories of their early working life.
You know, the ones that every little and big kid wants to play with. In fact, some young whipper snappers (Aussie slang for young person) do at our club because we cater for everyone. At our club you have the great opportunity to relive a childhood you never had but wanted to live. It's really all about having fun and preserving our Aussie history.
Stationary engines, tractors, graders, dozers, crawlers, harvesters, mowers, rotary hoes, cars, trucks and even steam .... you name it, If it is a vintage machine we cherish it, we caress it, nurture it and we hold it close and protect it. It is quite often, an extended member of our family and in some cases, a treasured machine that great great Grandad bought and has been passed down and made its way through successive generations, or has been donated by a pioneering family to preserve.
Most of all we love to showcase our restored and working machines and love more than anything to impart knowledge that has been lost or forgotten.
Of course a lot of this beautiful work would not be possible without the understanding and support from the many long suffering husbands. Vintage machinery is not just a blokey thing you know. We do get the ladies wanting to mix it up, get their hands dirty and pull an engine down occasionally while the blokes are relegated to offering cups of tea, scones and timely first aid assistance. Strangely our blokes are usually not left unattached or single for too long with those skills.
Thank you ladies for all of your understanding and support.
So you see. we not only care about preserving our dinki di Aussie pioneering machinery, but part and parcel of that is preserving our traditional values, our culture, our language and hopefully sharing our knowledge and educating our community about the magnificent history that Australia has through its old machinery.
In this world of hustle and bustle, political correctness and monotone in a throwaway society, we pride ourselves on celebrating what has made our country great and stopping to celebrate the keep hold of the things that helped shape our way of life.
Hope you enjoy our new website and keep checking in as we build upon it. Positive constructive feedback is always welcome.
